European Researchers’ Night 2026

European Researchers’ Night 2026

For the third year, we were thrilled to participate in the European Researchers’ Night, organised by the Research and Innovation Foundation! Centred around this year’s theme, “CELEBRATE 2.0 – Two Decades of STEAM-Powered Inspiration”. The event served as a vibrant platform to celebrate scientific inquiry, innovation, and creative learning across Cyprus.

European Researchers’ Night holds a special place in our hearts. It offers our team an incredible opportunity to engage directly with pupils, families, and visitors of all ages, sharing what lies at the very core of our work: science as a captivating journey of exploration, experimentation, and authentic discovery.

STEAM Exploration: playing with light and sound

To bring contemporary STEAM education concepts to life through inquiry-based and experiential learning, our team hosted three interactive activities focused on the physics of light and sound:

  • 🎭 Shadow Theatre (L-STEAM Project): Combining art, storytelling, and optics, participants explored how light interacts with objects to create shadows, based on our Erasmus+ project L-STEAM. (https://inquiry-fuse.eu/l-steam/ )
  • 🎶 Discovering sound waves with tuning forks (Music n’ STEAM programme): Hands-on experimentation with tuning forks allowed curious minds to observe vibrations and understand how sound energy travels. (https://inquiry-fuse.eu/educational-programmes/)
  • 🎶 Exploring pitch and frequency with water bottles (Music n’ STEAM programme): Kids and visitors experimented with varying water levels in glass bottles to discover how musical notes change, bridging the gap between music and scientific principles. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Research and Innovation Foundation for hosting such an event, as well as to all the enthusiastic participants who experimented, questioned, and discovered alongside us. We are already looking forward to next year’s edition!
