Article 92: MINDFIT project takes first steps to support children’s mental fitness across Europe

The MINDFIT project — Empowering Minds: Enhancing Children’s Mental Fitness — has officially begun with the successful completion of its pre kick-off meeting on 29 May 2025. This important first gathering brought together key stakeholders from across Europe to set the foundation for a coordinated and impactful initiative focused on supporting the mental well-being of young people.

Funded by the CERV programme, MINDFIT addresses the growing mental health challenges faced by children, particularly young athletes aged 8 to 18. With a strong emphasis on prevention and early intervention, the project aims to promote mental fitness and resilience through a series of innovative actions.

Over the course of the project, the consortium will develop a range of tools and resources including:

  • Educational materials for schools, coaches, and families
  • Mental health assessment tools tailored to different age groups
  • A child-friendly mobile application supporting mental well-being
  • Training programmes for educators, coaches, and caregivers
  • Policy recommendations to promote sustainable and inclusive support systems
  • Awareness-raising campaigns across Cyprus, Greece, and Italy

The MINDFIT consortium brings together a highly experienced group of partners committed to improving children’s mental health through cross-sectoral collaboration:

  • CYENS Centre of Excellence (Coordinator – Cyprus)
  • GDA Sports (Cyprus)
  • INQUIRIUM Ltd. (Cyprus)
  • Symplexis (Greece)
  • University of Thessaly (UTH) (Greece)
  • CESIE (Italy)
  • Regional Government of Thessaly (RoT) (Greece)

As the project prepares for its official launch, the team is energised by a shared vision: to empower children with the skills, tools, and support they need to thrive mentally and emotionally, both in sport and in life.

Stay tuned for further updates as MINDFIT moves from planning to action.
