Article 87: EQUAL TPM in Cyprus and activities

The EqualPlay project officially launched with its first Transnational Project Meeting (TPM) in Cyprus, bringing together partners from across Europe to begin work on promoting equal opportunities and inclusion in sport. The meeting set a collaborative tone for the project, with discussions focused on aligning the partnership around shared goals and planning upcoming activities designed to foster participation and accessibility in sporting environments for all individuals, regardless of background or ability.

A standout moment of the TPM was an inclusive basketball session hosted by the disabled team at United Sports Cyprus (https://unitedsportscy.com/). This hands-on activity not only underscored the central values of the EqualPlay project but also offered a compelling demonstration of how sport can unite communities and challenge social barriers. In addition, participants were inspired by a presentation from Stephanie Nicolas, who shared the mission, work, and long-term vision of United Sports Cyprus. Her presentation highlighted the organisation’s strong focus on empowerment and inclusion through sport, reinforcing the importance of initiatives like EqualPlay in creating meaningful social change.

The energy and commitment shown at this first meeting mark a promising beginning for the project as it moves forward with its mission to make sport more inclusive, equitable, and accessible for all.
