Article 77: IPRA Seminars on Dual Careers and Intellectual Property Rights inspire over 60 students

The series of seminars organised by INQUIRIUM and UCLan Cyprus as part of the IPRA project — Intellectual Property Rights and Dual Career for Athletes — has successfully concluded, leaving a lasting impact on over 60 student participants.

Spanning both in-person and online formats, the seminar series offered valuable learning experiences to young athletes and aspiring sports professionals. The six-part programme included three physical workshops held on 3rd February (two sessions) and 26th February, alongside three virtual seminars conducted on 17th February, 5th March, and 17th March 2025.

Participants had the opportunity to engage directly with industry experts and practitioners. Among the guest speakers was Nectarios Alexandrou, Director of GDA Sports and former professional footballer, who offered a compelling perspective on the challenges and opportunities of managing a dual career in sport. Christodoulos Karittevlis, founder of Humeral Technologies, shared valuable knowledge on intellectual property rights (IPR), innovation, and the journey from idea to implementation.

The seminar series not only provided practical guidance on navigating dual career pathways but also equipped students with critical insights into the protection and commercialisation of ideas in the sports sector.

We are proud to have supported the personal and professional development of future leaders in sport and innovation.
