Article 75: ViRaLes project launches in portugal: Virtual Reality training for emergency responders

We are pleased to announce that Dr Olia Tsivitanidou, Director of INQUIRIUM Ltd, recently participated in the kick-off meeting of the VIRALES project, held on 30–31 January 2025 in Portugal. The event, hosted by project coordinator Ovarforma, brought together the consortium for the first time to officially launch this forward-looking Erasmus+ initiative.

The VIRALES project (Virtual Reality for Learning in Emergency Services) is dedicated to developing an innovative VR-based training programme for firefighters and emergency services professionals. It aims to enhance preparedness, safety, and skills acquisition through immersive learning technologies, tailored to the realities of emergency response scenarios.

During the meeting, partners engaged in productive discussions around the project’s vision, key objectives, and the initial steps toward developing content and technological frameworks. The collaborative atmosphere laid the foundation for a shared commitment to bringing digital transformation to emergency services training across Europe.

The VIRALES consortium brings together expertise from:

  • Ovarforma (Portugal) – Project Coordinator
  • Frederick University (Cyprus)
  • INQUIRIUM Ltd (Cyprus)
  • MIND – Mittelhessisches Institut für Nachhaltigkeit und Diversität gGmbH (Germany)
  • LARES Italia – Unione Nazionale Laureati Esperti In Protezione Civile (Italy)

We are proud to be part of this diverse and experienced partnership and look forward to contributing to the design and implementation of impactful training solutions that support the safety and effectiveness of emergency responders.
