Inquiry Fuse contributed to the prestigious European STEAME Academies Conference 2026. Our Project Manager, Vasilia Philippou, delivered the workshop titled: “Learning Science through Music: a design thinking project-based Learning Workshop.”
The project STEAM Innovation was developed under the umbrella of the Creative Europe, therefore the session challenged educators to rethink the traditional boundaries of the classroom. By positioning music and sound as sophisticated tools for scientific enquiry, the workshop showcased the true potential of the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) framework.
The workshop was designed to move beyond theory, providing educators with a practical toolkit to engage students’ curiosity through “sonification”, the process of transforming scientific data into sound. This innovative approach aligns with our core mission: to cultivate scientific and digital literacies through meaningful, experiential learning.
The session focused on four key pillars:
- Effectively merging science and the arts to enhance cognitive development.
- Guiding educators through the Feel–Imagine–Create–Share cycle to solve complex educational challenges.
- Utilising emerging technologies and Artificial Intelligence to support and scale creative learning outcomes.
- Empowering students to “hear” scientific patterns, making abstract data tangible and inclusive for all types of learners.
We would like to thank the organisers and all the participants who joined us in Paphos to explore the “signature for humanity through body and mind.”
