Article 132: “Theory and practical approaches for the effective implementation of active breaks in the classroom”

The seminar “Theory and practical approaches for the effective implementation of active breaks in the classroom”, held on February 18th within the framework of the BREAKS project, was an excellent gathering for educators dedicated to exploring the potential of active breaks in the school environment.

The event was implemented by Stephani Antoniou, Project Manager at INQUIRY FUSE, in close collaboration with the Morfou District Committee of the Pancyprian Organisation of Greek Teachers and collaborating educators Gabriella Sophocleous and Marilena Sophocleous.

A total of 31 teachers participated in the seminar, getting the chance to engage with the BREAKS project’s results and test the innovative educational materials developed over the past few months. The success of this event raises important questions:

  • Does our educational system need more seminars and materials of this kind, specifically tailored for primary school educators?
  • How could these be applied in the classroom, by which educators, and using what kind of tools?

The BREAKS project develops kinesthetic sessions that are inclusive of all student abilities. These are educational activities where body movement serves as the primary learning tool. Instead of sitting passively, students participate actively, using their bodies to understand concepts, solve problems, and consolidate information.

Our goal is to strengthen both the body and mind of the next generation, promoting lifelong healthy habits in alignment with European Union strategies.
