The ViRaLes project leverages Virtual Reality (VR) technology to revolutionize training for professionals in emergency services, such as firefighters, emergency medical personnel, and police. Traditional training methods, including classroom instruction and live drills, often fall short due to their high costs, time requirements, limited realism, and potential safety risks. These limitations make it challenging to replicate real-life emergency scenarios effectively. ViRaLes addresses these challenges by introducing immersive VR-based training experiences that provide a safe, realistic, and interactive environment. This approach enhances skill acquisition, knowledge retention, and overall performance, allowing emergency service employees to better prepare for real-world situations. The project’s main goal is to provide innovative and cutting-edge training opportunities in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector, improving the effectiveness and efficiency of emergency services while prioritizing safety and minimizing risks during training.
The aim of the ViRaLes project is to provide innovative training opportunities via VR in the VET sector, targeting emergency services, improving their employee’s performance, and contributing to the effectiveness and efficiency of their services.
The project’s main objectives (O) are:
O1: To improve the skills of firefighters on how to effectively respond to emergencies by providing them with an immersive and realistic training experience using VR technology.
O2: To increase the effectiveness of training for emerging services by providing a more engaging and interactive experience via cost-effective and efficient VR training, which can improve retention of information and skills, reduce the risk of injury and damage, and provide a safe and controlled environment for training using VR technology.
O3: Raise awareness among VET trainers on how to effectively use the VR Training Tool during training provision to emergency services and benefit from the event-based automated assessment mechanisms of the tool.
O4: Encourage the sharing of experiences from all the partners across Europe to identify best practices for the incorporation of ideas related to the use of VR technologies for training emergency services.
O5: Facilitate the widespread dissemination and sustainability of resources and innovative training approaches in the wider EU community and internationally.
