PROC-ASD aims to enhance coding skills of first adult learners with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and encourage their inclusion in the labor market especially in the ICT sector on one hand, while at the same time it proposes an Adult Education curriculum targeted at ICT Adult Educators to support them towards adapting coding / ICT courses and trainings for learners with ASD. While over 7 million people in Europe are on the autism spectrum, fewer than 10% are employed. The project’s consortium see this as a missed opportunity for both the individuals and the tech industry. Many adults with ASD possess the exact traits, like high attention to detail and methodical pattern recognition that are essential for careers in ICT. To bridge this gap, PROC-ASD project is developing a two-way solution: a specialized coding curriculum for adult learners with ASD and a training framework for ICT educators to help them adapt their teaching for neurodivergent students. By turning unique cognitive strengths into professional skills, the project aims to build a more inclusive workforce and help meet Europe’s growing demand for digital talent.
PROC-ASD’s objectives are:
O1: To develop the skills of trainers/staff of ICT training providers (professionals, organizations, companies) on including
persons with ASD in coding training/courses.
O2: To enhance the access of adults with ASD to training/skill-building opportunities in ICT, linked to the priorities of
strengthening the employability of people.
O3: To increase the interest of organizations that support people with ASD, of people with ASD and of their families on the
potential of skills building and pursuing a career in ICT.
O4: To Raise the awareness of employers and employers’ organizations on the benefits of employing persons with ASD and how they can support their inclusion.
